What is Botox?

Everywhere you go the buzz is building. From friends and coworkers to television and magazines, the excitement about Botox shows no signs of slowing down, but what exactly is Botox? Produced by the Clostridium botulinum bacterium, Botox is a purified protein administered by a physician, which temporarily and non-invasively minimize severe and moderate lines around the eyes and between the brows. Small amounts of Botox are are administered directly into the muscles that cause persistent lines and wrinkles through a series of small injections. Botox treatment is non-surgical and the entire procedure takes approximately 10 minutes. There is no recovery time associated with Botox injections and results may be seen within days. Although results vary according to the individual, the effect of Botox treatment can continue for up to four months.
